Head of Service for School Performance and Provision

Salary: Up to £73,800

We are seeking a Head of Service for School Performance and Provision, to lead the work on behalf of the Council that combines traditional School Improvement functions with commissioning of wider Council services to schools.

Southend Council has a stated ambition that over time all pupils will attend a good or outstanding school.

This post will work relentlessly to ensure the achievement of that ambition. You will be instrumental and determined in supporting and challenging all schools and settings, irrespective of their status, to ensure they provide the best education for all of their pupils. You will work with other departments, agencies and stakeholders to commission services to make this happen, and then monitor the impact upon outcomes. You will oversee the delivery of the provision of a range of education services for schools.

The right person will have a proven track record and credibility of working collaboratively, across boundaries, to support schools to improve outcomes further. With qualified teacher status, you will have successful experience of senior leadership in schools and probably within Local Authorities or Trusts, and be able to work with partners to influence, often without authority, to improve outcomes in the broader sense in schools and settings from 0-99.
